hair tissue mineral analysis + 62 serum biomarkers
Introducing Bedrock,
…. a foundational six-month terrain assessment and tending program built around two hair tissue mineral analyses and a serum panel measuring 62 biomarkers, to map a comprehensive picture not only of your mineral, metal, and vitamin status, but the ecosystem effecting how the body uses these building blocks. We begin with an in-depth assessment of you through a comprehensive health history assessment, hair tissue mineral analysis and serum labs to for an elevated diet + supplement protocol, adjusted through our six month container. You’ll be well held with two consultations and six months of texting support in our hippa compliant portal, combining psycho-spiritual health coaching with strategies for nervous system support. If at anytime you have a question, you can drop into our ongoing text thread on Practice Better.
Why tend terrain?
Much like a gardener cultivates healthy soil for a flourishing, resilient, ecosystems, tending our human terrain supports our feminine biology by giving our biochemistry what it needs to thrive. We see the expression in the ways we move, create and love. In its essence, a terrain building program is a deep dive into recovering from burnout, undernourishment, and environmental exposures. This approach to nourishing your terrain builds vitality and physical resiliency, allowing you to shed old patterns and step into more authentic versions of yourself.
Who does this program serve?
In alignment with terrain theory of disease, I believe building a robust terrain is in service to everyone. Our bodies nourishment and mineral balance informs its vitality and resiliency. A well nourished body responds to environmental stressors more robustly, and moves through initiatory passageways such as childbirth or perimenopause more gracefully. This deep nourishment program is especially in service to women with
a history of disordered eating, under- eating, fad or extreme dieting and orthoexia
a history of prolonged vegetarianism and veganism
those navigating complex or chronic illness
those navigating lifespan hormone transitions or imbalances
Why two tests?
Over the course of my work I came to realize that HTMA alone was too blunt an instrument to capture a Woman’s mineral, metal, and vitamin terrain- her bedrock. I began recommending additional testing to clients, and have saught it myself, to gain a more full view. In doing so, I realized how potent a tool synergyzing HTMA with serum labs can be. Where serum tests reflect one point of time with large references ranges, HTMA shines light on a 90 day cellular pattern, providing a good sense of the body’s resiliency, perception of stress, safety, and resourcing. Together, they’re a dream time, each providing clarification and corroboration for one another. The bloodwork shows me the things hair simply cannot: your true iron status, your copper economy, your metabolic health and inflammatory load- all which are required to assess mineral status. Together, these tests tell a more complete story of your mineral, metal & vitamin terrain.
A well nourished body has robust energy and a clear frequency- it can do the job of managing your metabolism, your hormones, detox pathways, and even your psycho-spiritual health more optimally.
Minerals are the spark plugs of life- alivening our cellular voltage, powering our biochemical pathways, and shaping our molecules of emotion through their affect on hormones and neurotransmitters. Yet these essential elements are easily depleted by environmental burdens and stress, leaving us vulnerable to heavy metal accumulation in their absence.
When we grasp that minerals are the cornerstone of our vitality - and how deeply they're impacted by modern stressors and toxins - we begin to understand the root of our collective health crisis. While this connection may seem fundamental, our medical industrial complex's fixation on sick-care has blinded us to the interconnected web that sustains true health: the living relationship within our ecosystems. Mineral balancing with Hair & Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a truly holistic, psycho-cellular approach to healing the physical body, tonifying the nervous system, building energetic capacity and improving your psychological and spiritual health. Drawing on our knowledge of mineral and metal relationships, mineral balancing science is a holistic, targeted approach to balancing our inner ecology.
Support your terrain, support your divine design
What biomarkers do we look at?
The hair tissue mineral analysis, two of them, at the beginning and after the rebuilding phase, so we can see whether the terrain is actually shifting. HTMA allows us to gauge your body’s perception of stress and resourcing over a 90 day window, giving broad insights into cellular and organ health, as well as toxic metal exposures and detox capacity.
A high sensitivity CRP & uric acid to pick up on inflammation, which distorts the interpretation of ferritin and ceruloplasmin both, so without it I'd be reading two of the most minerals, iron and copper, with only half the information.
A full serum iron panel: meaning ferritin read against clinical thresholds rather than the basement of the lab range, plus serum iron, total iron binding capacity, transferrin saturation, and inflammatory markers with a CBC- because HTMA alone does not assess for iron deficiency, or the roots thereof.
Blood serum & urine copper tests, because truly mapping bio-available vs toxic copper requires serum copper alongside ceruloplasmin and hs-CRP, to calculate the non-ceruloplasmin-bound fraction that actually matters, plus zinc because copper never works alone. Copper in the urine is the most reliable marker of liver copper excess or bile backup, as copper’s main exit is bile.
Urine copper tests the most reliable indicator of liver copper saturation, copper will be excreted in the urine if the liver is overwhelmed, a bio-marker of methylation capacity and targeted support.
Serum zinc as zinc levels can be complicated to interpret through HTMA alone. A serum panel helps clarify HTMA data while providing valuable insight into the copper economy, as well as your body’s redox capacity and inflammatory state.
Vitamin A, the cofactors that decide whether iron and copper can be used at albecause ceruloplasmin needs retinol to function and because vitamin A deficiency raises hepcidin and locks iron into storage — a woman can be iron-loaded in her tissues and iron-starved in her blood at the same time.
Vitamin D, which shapes immune tone, mineral handling, and calcium regulation directly.
A comprehensive metabolic panel including fasting glucose, so we can see how your metabolic and liver health is contributing to your vitamin and mineral picture, particularly the copper picture and your body’s perception of stress.
A complete blood count so we can more deeply assess iron status while building a picture of your immune system, and the presence of underlying infectious processes
And a thyroid panel because adequate thyroid hormones are needed to assess copper status, and overall metabolic and hormone health.
Plus anything you already have.
The serum panel includes 62 biomarkers, at a wholesale price of $150 if ordered through Fullscript and drawn at Quest laboratory. Or have your primary care provider run the tests, and simply email me the results.

Why I added serum tests to complete my mineral balancing package
HTMA is a genuinely good instrument for what it does well. It shows relative patterns and ratios inside the cell over a three-month window. It's non-invasive, affordable, and it trends beautifully across months in a way a single morning blood draw never can. I use it in every program I run, and I'm not walking that back. But there are two minerals I've stopped trusting it to measure, and they're two of the most consequential ones in women's health.
Iron. The clinically important question is never how much iron is floating around. It's how much you have in reserve, how much is in transit, and whether your body can move it where it's needed. That story is told by proteins: ferritin, transferrin, TIBC, transferrin saturation, and none of those live in a hair shaft. What ends up deposited in hair is a murky composite of what was circulating during growth, and it doesn't track with body iron stores in any way you could responsibly build a protocol from. This matters because iron deficiency and iron overload are both real conditions with opposite treatments, and because iron deficiency is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies in menstruating women. Getting it wrong in either direction has consequences. Iron deficiency anemia has several roots, serum testing allows us to find the right one. By looking at inflammatory markers and vitamins, we can better assess what iron is doing, and why. From my perspective, the founder of Mineral Nutrition Balancing Dr. Eck, assumes iron toxicity, does not assess for anemia, or include iron in any of his supplements. To me, this isn’t exactaly in alignment with the concept of “mineral balancing,” nor does it track well for women’s health.
Which brings us to Copper. While HTMA infers potential copper toxicity from triangulating different aspects and ratios, ultimately the number that matters isn't your total copper level, but how your copper is bound. Most of the copper in your blood is locked safely onto a molecule called ceruloplasmin doing its job. A smaller fraction rides loosely on other carriers, and that bioavailable pool is the one that drives oxidative damage when things tip. Two women can have identical total copper and completely different amounts of that loose, reactive copper. That distinction is the entire clinical question, and hair copper cannot make it — it can read low, normal, or high and tell you nothing about bioavailability or whether your ceruloplasmin is actually functioning. This is why we measure vitamin cofactors with a serum panel to assess copper status, overlaying clinical toggles that tend copper towards reactive: inflammation and oxidative stress, high estrogen and histamine. Through this integrative lens, we arrive at a much more granular perspective on what copper is actually doing.
How does HTMA work?
The HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) is a valuable tool in support of healthy cellular energy levels, tending the internal terrain by promoting overall health and vitality in the body. This at home test utilizes a small hair sample to identify levels of minerals/metals, as well as important physiological ratios to guide personalized supplement recommendations tailored to your unique biochemistry. Unlike a blood test that captures a moment in time outside of the cell, hair analysis comprises a 3 month window of intra cellular data- allowing early detection of imbalances, and precise measures of overall health trends. HTMA science is a valuable tool in support of healthy cellular energy levels, tending the internal terrain by promoting overall health and vitality in the body through a systematized, bio-individualized approach to mineral balancing.
HTMA expands the traditional, reductive paradigm that measures and treats minerals in isolation, instead measuring important interrelated ratios and relationships to the whole. In this way, the HTMA captures the complex web of relationships characteristic of minerals- leading to a more effective approach.
For example, a low hair zinc level has a different meaning depending on the sodium/potassium ratio, and the treatment is different as well. Minerals act differently in different combinations with one another. Mineral balancing leverages these natural technologies, both the synergistic and antagonistic relationship minerals have with one another, to optimize your body’s vitality, stress resiliency and ability to heal through its ability to make energy and efficiently clear exhaust.
By analyzing a small sample of hair, HTMA offers insights into mineral ratios that reflect your liver, thyroid and adrenal health, heavy metal toxicity, how quickly you burn through nutrients, neuroendocrine function, and even emotional holding patterns.
Our inner ecology, environment, and experience of ourselves are interrelated dimensions. Tending our inner landscape promotes foundational healing, so we can step into our deepest, most authentic and vitalized embodiment. Tending our inner ecology is the future- writing technology we need in times of individual and collective change.
