Copper, iron, and the psycho-spiritual marriage across a woman's hormonal life

The Creational Third

A two part experience, Wednesdays 10.21 & 10.28 @ 4:00pm PST

A woman's minerality is shaped by her hormone ecology, and her hormone ecology is shaped right back by her minerals. The relationship runs in both directions at every step, and almost no mineral framework in circulation was built to account for it.

At the heart of a woman's mineral matrix is the dance of copper and iron, her feminine and masculine poles.

Jung had a word for this kind of union. Coniunctio, the marriage of opposites, the alchemy of polarity that produces something greater than either aspect could produce by itself. Many traditions circle the same understanding under different names, whether yin and yang, ida and pingala, sun and moon. And the relationship between the inner masculine and feminine aspects of our being generates a vitality neither pole could generate on its own.

Iron cannot leave a cell without copper. It exits in a form the blood cannot carry, and a copper enzyme has to receive it at the threshold and convert it before it can travel anywhere. Without copper, iron accumulates in the tissue while a woman goes anemic. What the two produce together is oxygenation: the most literal possible version of vitality, and something neither could make alone.

Here is where it stops being metaphor. The cultural symbols we use for feminine and masculine, ♀ and ♂, were originally the alchemical signs for Venus and Mars, which are the signs for copper and iron. Our entire visual shorthand for gender came straight out of the mineral archetypes. We have been drawing these two metals on bathroom doors for centuries without knowing it.

So this class takes that seriously, from both directions.

We will track how estrogen weaves with hepcidin and ceruloplasmin across a woman's life stages to shape how she absorbs, transports and uses these two metals. We will map what actually shifts at each threshold: puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, early perimenopause, perimenopause and beyond, including what to consider when weighing HRT. We will look at where copper intersects with the molecules of emotion, and how histamine and MCAS constellations articulate with hormonal change. We will get into the mechanism behind perimenopausal ADHD, which almost nobody is teaching.

And we will look at why this particular question cannot be answered by a hair test alone, and what serum assessment adds when you are trying to see copper and iron clearly.

Alongside all of it runs the other inquiry. What does it mean for a woman to have a healthy, integrated animus? To provide her own inner structure rather than sourcing it from outside herself? Where does copper dysregulation meet the distortion of feminine expression? On both the biochemical and the psycho-spiritual level, the integration of seeming opposites is the organizing principle behind the creation of energy. As above, so below.

Because the union does not average the poles. It compounds them. What comes of the encounter between copper and iron is neither copper nor iron: it is breath reaching tissue, several times a second, for as long as you live.

That third thing is what we are here to understand. You will come away with a better understanding of your copper <> iron system, how your hormone landscape is shaped by (and shapes) their relationship, and how to best support these minerals through diet, lifestyle, and in some cases strategic supplementation.

This container invites you to use the lens of copper and iron to explore your inner polarity; where do you need more healthy structure and containment, where is your expression being asked to be more fully claimed?

Day 1

  • Why copper and iron balance is the foundational structure of mineral balancing for women, and how these two metals co-weave with estrogen and progesterone.

  • What actually shifts at each threshold: puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, early perimenopause, perimenopause and beyond.

  • Mineral considerations around HRT, including what route of administration changes and what to weigh before deciding.

  • Minerals and pathophysiology: which mineral patterns act as early signals in reproductive pathology, and what the mineral landscape tells us about long-term risk, including in conditions like Alzheimer's

  • Where copper meets the molecules of emotion, and where it meets the distortion of feminine expression.

  • Why copper and iron require serum assessment, what a hair test can and cannot see, and how to read a BEDROCK panel.

  • Copper and iron as archetypal guides to our inner masculine and feminine: what it means for a woman to have a healthy, integrated animus and to provide her own inner structure.

  • Coniunctio as an organizing principle: how the marriage of opposites plays out across the mineral, biochemical, psycho-spiritual and esoteric landscapes at once.

  • Where does copper intersect with our molecules of emotion, a a distortion of feminine expression? Exploring how MCAS, histamine and dopamine intersect with mineral and hormone landscapes.

Mapping the Mineral Matrix

Day 2

Templating the field, understanding the nature of our mineral inheretance, and legacy of inner-alchemy for future generations.

Participants will receive an email inviting them to share questions and case studies. Sara will additionally hold a live guided discussion where you are encouraged to share.
